My parents brought the kids up. The next morning, while dad was at the conference, we began our explorations at the aquarium.

With super yummy dinners at places like this.  Luke was up in Vancouver for SIGGRAPH and I tagged along. 

and then we ditched the kids to party on Bainbridge Island

The Great Pacific Northwest Adventure Begins

With a rough start... a picnic detour to Davis because of a (couple, ahem.) missed exits began our trip up north.

We stayed at Seven Feathers to let Zoe and Caleb absorb some country music and cigarette smoke.  Luckily there was a good pool.  We knew we weren't in Oakland anymore when pie was the healthiest breakfast we could find.

Then we were back in the car... trying to keep Luke from becoming "Roadtrip Dad" (hint, lots of clenched jaws and yelling).

A dinner stop in Portland. I We highly recommend this park.

And then finally, FINALLY, we were there.
