Last time I was in London, it was on our way back from India and Mom and I had grand plans to go on the London Eye. Our plans were cut short by my Delhi Belly. This time, I made it (sorry, mom!).
We started the day with grumpy Luke and trying-really-hard-to-keep-the-tired-family's-peace Me getting in a fight in front of the playground by the London Eye. But then the kids played, the adults got coffee and we got into our pod and were lost in the views (well, Zoe got really into the interactive touch screen map, but the rest of us got into the views).
And then we crossed the Westminster Bridge, towards Big Ben and Parliament and the House of Commons and Westminster Abbey.
And past the Household Cavalry Museum (got to love the British!), where we took pictures of the well behaved horses.
And on to Trafalger Square where I, as a 6 year old, made a Japanese penpal and chased pigeons. Zoe chased some pigeons, too, but didn't find a penpal.
Then we went into the National Gallery where we ate lunch and let the kids' activity book guide us through the rooms. And, yeah, the kids saw some Van Gogh's, some Rembrants, some Monet, Manet, Pisarro, Renoir, etc. No big deal.
Then, we walked towards and through Piccadilly Circus (which I still remember being so disappointed, as a kid, to find out is not actually a circus with lions and clowns) up Regent St to Liberty of London. I bought a little fabric and then we all ate cake at the cafe. Everything was pretty. Everything. Painfully so.
