Day 5: Lisbon

It was an incredible day. The sun was out. We slept better. And off we went to the Parque das Naçõe which is down the river on the other side of Lisbon.

We stopped for breakfast before waiting for our bus.

When we got off the bus, we were side tracked by the awesome Jardim da Agua.

Then, into the Oceanario. Which was amazing. There was a giant central 2 floor predator tank that was filled with sharks, giant rays, schools of fish, a sun fish (which Zoe identified to us, explaining that her teacher told her what it was!!), etc. This central tank is round and visible from many beautifully framed windows throughout the aquarium.

You enter on the top floor and walk through exhibits for each ocean:

The Atlantic

The Antartic (with birds flying around in the exhibit and streams of ice)

Then on to the Pacific (which felt like home)

The Indian

Then, you walk downstairs and see all of the habitats from below, with additional side tanks of species that belong to that ocean.

The exhibits were all beautiful. And the park, itself, was full of beautiful design including gardens representing different ecosystems, a board walk and tons of contemporary architecture. We took the gondola (the telecabine) so we could see everything without relying on little tired legs. We ended the day at Santiago Calatrava's train station, which Caleb was familiar with from reading my Calatrava book at home.
