The Birthday Party
You'd think the first weekend in September would be a lovely gorgeous time for a beach birthday. Nope. Sun? a little. Wind? YES. We made the most of it.

Transportation Day
Two days ago, Caleb had wanted to do more in San Francisco but there just wasn't the time. Zoe had to be back for her nap. But I promised him we would return. Soon. Today was probably one of my favorite days I've ever spent with Caleb. We did nothing but wander from one mode of transportation to another. Exploring the city and his favorite landmarks, while just enjoying the day and not worrying about a schedule. Caleb was into making really super silly faces all day.
Dad dropped us off at the BART, which we rode to Powell St:
Then, we waited (so patiently!) in the long line for the cable car. Yes, we could have walked a block north and caught the car, but we came into SF to ride the thing. We were going to do it right and get the best seats.
And when we got to Bay St? The conductor asked if Caleb wanted to ring the bell. Amazing how nice people are.
Then, we walked along Aquatic Park, talking about wet suits and how crazy the swimmers in the bar are:
We walked to Van Ness and got on my old bus, the number 47. The one that I rode to and from school for many years.
We got off at California St and hopped on another cable car. This one wasn't so crowded, but not as long, either. Caleb, expecting VIP treatment now, asked the conductor if he could ring the bell. I was embarrassed, explained to the nice man why he was asking, but of course he said yes. Its hard to say no to this little boy.
Then there was lunch at the Ferry Terminal.
And we tried to take a streetcar but they kept passing us by: all full.
Then we hopped on our ferry and dad met us in Jack London Square.
